GENERAL

"TRUE LIFE OF A JAGUAR" TV PROGRAM

 

Hey Juniors!  Watch our TV show, "True Life of a Jaguar", starring Brandt Tanaka, Waiaka Kealamakia, Darla Mizuno, and Bernard Kuheana.  This month's show is Dreams and Goals.  Showtimes are 9/6, Saturday at 11:00 a.m., 9/11, Thursday at 7:30 p.m., 9/13, Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and 9/16, Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. on channel 54.  Watch your fellow classmates shine!   - M. ELECTRONICS TECHNICAL CENTER

 

ETC @ Waiakea High is accepting applications for students interested in obtaining an entry level or advanced electricity/electronics credit.  Electronic classes will be from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, beginning October 13, 2003.  Information and application forms are available from J-Electronics.   - M. JUNIORS & SENIORS

 

A representative from Seattle University will be in GRAC on Friday, September 19 at 11:20 a.m.  Seattle University is a medium-sized, private, 4 year university affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church.  Interested students should have a minimum GPA of 2.75 & can come to GRAC for a pass.   - T. JUNIORS & SENIORS

 

A representative from Lewis & Clark College will be in GRAC on Monday, September 22 at 9:15 a.m.  Lewis & Clark College is a small, private 4 year liberal arts college located in Portland, Oregon.  Interested students should come to GRAC for a pass.   - T. Kawada

 

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

 

Horatio Alger Association for students who have demonstrated integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity.  Applicants must have a 2.0 GPA and require financial assistance to attend college.  Apply at www.horatioalger.org.  Application deadline is October 15.    - T. Kawada

 

CLASS OF 2007 MALE CHEERLEADERS

 

Tanyalee Switzer is having a meeting with the Freshman Male Cheerleaders in C202 on Tuesday, September 16, during morning recess. If the four who signed up are the only ones who show, we will have to forfeit participation in this year's Homecoming Male Cheerleading Competition. C'mon you guys, this is your last chance to show the Waiakea High School 'ohana what you're made of!! Mahalo!   - J. Martino

ASVAB

 

The first ASVAB test will be held on Thursday, October 23 in the library from 8:00 a.m. - 12 noon.  There in no cost involved.  Although the ASVAB is utilized by the different branches of the military it can also be useful in indentifying career interests and student strengths.  All interested students should sign up in GRAC.     - T. SAT/PSAT PREPARATION

 

SAT/PSAT Preparation will be offered during fall intersession from October 6-10, 2003 from 8am-noon.  Anyone who has NOT taken this before is eligible to sign up in C 101.  You must take the pre test on Friday, October 3 from 2-4pm or you will not be allowed to take the Monday-Friday class.  Cost of the 3rd edition SAT practice test book with CD is $17.00.  Sign up quickly because space is limited.  Good practice for the SAT on October 11, and the PSAT on October 18.  Mrs. Yamaki is teaching the verbal section and Mrs. J. Yamamoto is teaching the math section.   - P De. Morales

 

HCPS II PRACTICE

 

HCPS II Reading and Math Practice will be offered during fall intersession, Oct 6-10, 2003.  HCPS-like Reading and Math assignments will be given for student practice.  We don't have both teachers yet, but...Come to C 101 to sign up.      - P De. Morales

Reminder that downloading movie and music files through the Internet is illegal and a violation of our school's Internet Access Policy.  These downloads can be traced back to the computer and may result in our school losing our Internet access.  Do not use Kazaa or any other peer-to-peer networking software to trade copyrighted material.   - D.
