GENERAL

JUNIORS & SENIORS

 

A representative from University of Oregon will be in GRAC on Monday, September 8 at 10:45.  U of O is a large, public 4-year university in Eugene, Oregon.  Applicants require a minimum combined SAT score of 1000 and a  minimum GPA of 3.0.  Interested students should come to GRAC for a pass.   - T. A representative from Loyola Marymount University will be in GRAC on Friday, September 12 at 8:30 a.m.  Loyola Marymount is a medium-sized private 4 year university in Los Angeles, California affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church.  Interested students should go to GRAC for a pass.   - T. WARNING FROM YOUR LIBRARIAN!

 

Beginning today, students will be asked to leave the library and banned for a week if they do not:

1. Use the library for quiet study.  2. Speak softly.  3.  Take off their hats.  4. Sit down at desks with only

four chairs to a table.  5. Are caught eating, drinking or chewing gum.  9th Grade library orientation

classes have been completed.  Why are simple library rules so difficult to follow?   - G. Kobayashi

 

PIHANA NA MAMO CLUB

 

Want to learn about the Hawaiian culture?  Pihana Na Mamo o Waiakea will be having it's first membership recruitment meeting on Thursday, September 4 during lunch recess in P-18.  All students are welcome.  Meeting will start promptly at 12 noon.     - D. Kotaki

 

JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT

 

Junior Achievement evening program tryouts are Tuesday, Sept. 9th at Waiakea High School Cafeteria starting at 6:30pm.  Students who signed up for Junior Achievement are reminded that attendance at this meeting is required.  Students who have not completed an application will be accepted on a space available basis.   - S. WINTER BALL:

 

Meeting will be held on Thursday, Sept. 4th, at P-28, for all chairs and anyone interested in helping on a committee.   - A. Ogata

 

2003 YEARBOOK SUPPLEMENTS

 

The supplement to last year's yearbook has arrived.  If you pre-ordered one, come to D-201 during recess and lunch to pick it up.  Extras will be sold on a first come, first served basis for $6.00.   - P. King

WRESTLING SIGN-UPS

 

All students interested in trying out for wrestling are to meet at the gym on Wednesday, Sept. 3 starting at 11:45.  Pleae be prompt.   - K. Yamase

 

SOFTBALL SIGN UPS

 

Any girl who has not yet signed up for softball is to come to the gym at 12 noon on Thursday, Sept. 4th to sign up with Mr. Yamase.   - K. Yamase

CLUB DEKTOL

 

There will be a Photography Club meeting on Friday, September 5 in room H 102 at lunch recess for all who are interested. Discussion will include Officers, on/off campus event shoots for the newspaper, and fundraisers. New members are encouraged to join.    - A. Kelly

 

SCIENCE CLUB

 

Application and Election for Science Club will occur during lunch on Friday Sept. 5.  Please bring the five dollar membership and your lunch to B103 for this first organizational meeting.    - M. Cahill

If any club is interested in helping pick up rubbish in the stands after home football games and earn some funds, please contact me as soon as possible.  Assignments will be on a first to call basis.   - K. Yamase

 

FRESH HYDROPONIC PRODUCED  LETTUCE

 

Want some fresh grown Hydroponic Lettuce at 50 cent a bunch. This is produced without  ANY chemical sprayers what so ever by my  Agricuture/Aquaculture students here at WHS. If interested or want more information on: Varieties produced (we have many types), how often available, etc., drop me a note by any way of your choice or call me at ext. 281. This will also be delivered to you here on campus. We are also starting a Lettuce-A-Week Club (This is for those that would be interested in buying Lettuce every week.   - G. Victorine
