MEMORIAL DAY LEIS:

Congratulations to everyone who participated in this year's Memorial Day lei making.  Waiakea High School turned in 3,000 leis (Freshmen  - 318, Sophomores - 1,087, Juniors - 700, Seniors - 895).  The leis will be placed at the National Cemetary of the Pacific at the Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 31st. - D. COMMENCEMENT USHERETTES

Girls who were selected to be commencement usherettes, who still need to get a white dress, see Mrs. Akiona immediately! - M. Akiona

PROJECT GRAD FINAL DEADLINE

Absolute last day to turn-in Project Grad registration to Mrs. Sato is Wednesday, June 2 by 2:30 pm.  If you have already registered you should be receiving a confirmation/receipt before June 2nd.  Any questions???  See Mrs. Sato in Q-201. - K. Sato

ALL FRESHMEN:

Bring pictures for the class slideshow for our awards assembly.  Bring pictures in by Friday, May 28th and give them to Michael Shioji, Tami Park, or BlakeAnn Antida - K. Uyeda

ATHLETIC AWARDS PICK-UP

Students who did not attend the awards night may pick up their athletic awards from Mr. Yamase in the gym on the following days:  May 28, June 2, 3, 4, and 7th during school hours.  Unclaimed awards will be recycled for future use. - K. Yamase

STUDENT PARKING ON CAMPUS

Student parking on campus is a privilege and not a right.  To park on campus you MUST follow several rules. The rules are as follows:

1. All vehicles MUST display a parking permit.

2. Park ONLY in marked stalls.  DO NOT PARK ALONG CURBING, STAFF and/or CONSTRUCTION PARKING!

3. NO EXHIBITIONS OF SPEED.     

4. Parking Lot is OFF LIMITS during the school day.  DO NOT use your vehicle as a locker.

5. Your vehicle can be searched anytime without probable cause.

If you do not follow any rule your permit may be revoked and your vehicle towed at the owner's expense.   - S. Ozaki

ATTENDANCE

This is just a reminder that the deadline to excuse 3rd quarter absences was 3/19.  Any requests to excuse absences prior to Spring Break will not be accepted.  No exceptions will be made. - M. Yamashita

HAWAII COMMUNITY COLLEGE TUITION WAIVER

Available to a graduating senior from Waiakea High School, planning to enroll at HCC in the fall of 2004.  Interested students should see Mrs. Kawada in GRAC or Mr. Wegner in Q-203 by this Friday, May 28th. - T. Kawada

2004 ONE PUKA PUKA ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP

Open to graduating seniors recognized for academic excellence and community service & their pursuit of promoting the legacy of the 100th Infantry Battalion in World War II.  Applicants must be a descendent or direct family member of a 100th Infantry Battalion World War II veteran & a graduating senior who will be attending college on a full-time basis.  Application information available at http://home.hawaii.rr.com/club100.   Value:  $2,000.  Deadline:  Receipt by Saturday, June 5th. - T. SENIORS

Commencement ticket distribution took place after song practice on 5/19.  If you did not pick up your tickets then, you must do so this week from room B-203 during lunch recess only.  Tickets not picked up after this week will go towards a raffle. - J. Kruse

TKE SCHOLARSHIP:

The Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity Triangle Leadership Award Scholarship is available to an incoming male freshman who will attend UH-Manoa in the Fall of 2004.  Applicants are evaluated based on civic responsibility, academic success, & athletic success.  Applications available in GRAC.  Value:  $1,000.  Deadline:  receipt by June 30th. - T. 4TH QUARTER DEADLINE - ATTENDANCE

As a reminder, a doctor's note does not automatically excuse an absence from school.  Only Column B type absences will be excused.  Make it a practice to turn in requests to excuse COLUMN B absences promptly after your return.  Do not wait until the last week of school to turn in notes as it may be unexcusable (Column A).  Deadline to turn in notes for the 4th quarter is 6/3 for Seniors and 6/8 for all others.  See the Attendance Coordinator if you have any questions - M.
