GENERAL

LEO CLUB MEMBERS

The deadline for Banquet forms has been extended to Thursday.  We will be collecting it during both recesses in B102. - L. Otsubo

SENIORS

Commencement ticket distribution took place after song practice on 5/19.  If you did not pick up your tickets then, you must do so this week from room B-203 during lunch recess only.  Tickets not picked up after this week will go towards a raffle. - J. Kruse

TKE SCHOLARSHIP:

The Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity Triangle Leadership Award Scholarship is available to an incoming male freshman who will attend UH-Manoa in the Fall of 2004.  Applicants are evaluated based on civic responsibility, academic success, & athletic success.  Applications available in GRAC.  Value:  $1,000.  Deadline:  receipt by June 30th. - T. UH-HILO TUITION WAIVER:

Available for seniors  with disabilities who are planning to attend UH-Hilo in the fall of 2004.  Minimum GPA of 3.0 required & student must be qualified as a student with a disability under the ADA guidelines.  Applications available in GRAC.  Deadline:  May 30th.   - T. Kawada

NHS OFFICERS FOR 2004-05 SCHOOL YEAR:

The following students have been elected officers for next school year.  President - Elizabeth Brauher; Vice President - Rachel Kaneta; Secretary - Lezli Kubo; Treasurer:  Michelle Lopez.  The Induction Ceremony Chairpersons are Tiffany Chang and Ariane Jardine-Namba. 4TH QUARTER DEADLINE - ATTENDANCE

As a reminder, a doctor's note does not automatically excuse an absence from school.  Only Column B type absences will be excused.  Make it a practice to turn in requests to excuse COLUMN B absences promptly after your return.  Do not wait until the last week of school to turn in notes as it may be unexcusable (Column A).  Deadline to turn in notes for the 4th quarter is 6/3 for Seniors and 6/8 for all others.  See the Attendance Coordinator if you have any questions - M. SENIOR AWARDS:

Senior Awards Night will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at 7:00 p.m. at the school cafeteria.  All Seniors are invited to attend this last event of camaraderie before Commencement.  Sunday's Best Attire is requested.  Numerous scholarships and awards will be announced at this time. - D. WAIAKEA ATHLETIC AWARDS NIGHT

All athletes and their parents are invited to attend the annual Athletic Awards night to be held on Thursday, May 27th starting at 7:00pm in the gym.  JV and Varsity athletes of all sports will be honored with awards.  Athletes are encouraged to wear team shirts if possible. - K. Yamase

NATIONAL TEEN PREGNANCY PREVENTION MONTH

A message from a teen:  If you think birth control "ruins the mood," consider what a pregnancy test will do to it. - R. Yamanaka

BOY'S BOWLING MEETING

All boys interested in trying out for next year's bowling team are to meet at WHS on Wednesday, May 26th at 3:00pm.  Please be prompt. - K. Yamase

BOYS' CROSS COUNTRY

Anyone interested in trying out for the boys' x-country team (fall 2004) should attend an informational meeting and sign-up on Tuesday, May 25 in E-204.  Meeting will begin promptly at 12:15 p.m.   See Coach Joseph if unable to attend. - W. Joseph

Freshmen, please join us for the last three days of lei-making, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, from 2 to 4 p.m. in Q202. Bring ti-leaves if you can. Also, if anyone is making lei at home to contribute, please bring them to Q202 on Wed. so we may box them for Thursday morning distribution.  - J. Iokepa
