SOPHOMORE CLASS AWARDS CEREMONY SLIDE SHOW

The sophomore class officers are making the end of the year slide show.  If anybody has pictures to contribute please bring them to C204 by Friday, May 21, 2004.  Please write your name on the back of the pictures and they will be returned later. - K. Uyeda

CAR SHOW 2004 SOUNDS COMPETITION WINNERS

Congratulations to the following winners of the Sounds Competition of Car Show 2004:  200 - 300 Watt Class - 1st Place - Diana Lee, 2nd Place - Jessica Carvalho, 3rd Place - Vanagan Sanborn.  400 - 600 Watt Class - 1st Place - Kevin Higashi, 2nd Place - Cody Aragaki, 3rd Place - Kyle Higa.  1000+ Watt Class - 1st Place - Colin thompson, 2nd Place - Chad Fugioshi, 3rd Place - Bryston Savella-Lewis.  Thanks to all participants, Auto Club members, and A & J Mobile Audio for doing an outstanding job! - D. SENIORS

You will not be able to get your Commencement tickets after song practice on Wednesday, May 19 if you have any outstanding debts to the school (ie. class dues, library or cafeteria fees, etc.).  Bring receipt with you if you have only recently paid. - J. Kruse

DRAMA CLUB PERFORMANCE

The WHS Drama Club is giving a performance of several  humorous poems on Wednesday, May 19, 2004, in M102 at  6:30 P.M.  While the poems are aimed at younger children , we invite anyone interested to attend.  - D. Barnes

FINAL SATURDAY SCHOOL

The final Saturday School of the year will be held this Saturday, 5/22.  Check with each of your teachers for your actual absence dates.  Know the classes for which you need to earn Saturday School credits.  Must be in line by 8:00 a.m.  No late entry.  Bring a valid ID for entry, work to do and study supplies.  Dress standards apply.   - M. Make it a practice to turn in requests to excuse COLUMN B absences promptly after your return.  Do not wait until the last week of school to turn in notes as it may be inexcusable (Column A).  See the Attendance Coordinator if you have any questions.   - M. Yamashita

Available to seniors accepted to either Hawaii Community College, UH-Hilo or UH-Manoa.  Statement of Community Involvement, statement of need, three letters of recommendation & transcript required.  Preference given to children of Hilo Jaycees Members or Roosters.  Applications available in GRAC.  Value:  $500.00.  Deadline:  Postmarked by June 1st. - T. Today's lunch menu is Soft Shell Taco, Oven Fries, Lettuce & Tomato, Biscuit, and Orange.  Friday's lunch menu is Chicken Patty on Whole Wheat Bun, Oven Fries, Lettuce & Cabbage Salad and Apples. - F. Kaauamo

SENIOR ANNOUNCEMENTS

Today is Beach Day!  Sign up in E103 for the Smoothie Drinking Contest.  Only 20 slots open, so sign up right away!  The contest will be held in the Quad during lunch recess. - S. Naungayan

SENIOR ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Today is "Movie Character Day."   If you are dressed like your favorite movie, television, cartoon or anime character, come to E103 and claim your treat.  Then, sign up in D204 to compete in the Costume Contest during Lunch Recess. - S. Naungayan

SENIOR ANNOUNCEMENTS

Wednesday is "Ethnic Appreciation Day."  Come to school dressed as an ethnicity that is NOT YOUR OWN.  In other words, be Egyptian, Jamaican, Roman, Greek, etc. but remember that your costumes must conform with the Dress Code. Then, during Lunch, come down to the Quad and compete in our Costume Contest. - S. Naungayan

SPRING FOOTBALL PRACTICE

Spring football practice for all current 9th-11th graders will start on Monday, May 17th.  Interested students must have a current physical and parental consent form.  Students are to meet at the LR at 3:30pm.   - K. Yamase

There will be a mandatory meeting for the Maui trip this Thrusday during first recess.  If you are unable to attend, you must check in this week at B-103.  All science club Maui Participants must pick up a Haleakala volunteer form this week and get it signed by parents.   - M. Cahill

Please attend a short meeting in my room afterschool on Tuesday at 2:15 - 2:20 to find out what your new jobs will be for next year.  If you cannot attend please let me know ahead of time.  You will be pulling straws to see which job you get.
