SENIOR ANNOUNCEMENTS

1.  MONDAY IS TWINS DAY!  COME WITH YOUR PARTNER TO E103, MRS. TANABE'S ROOM, TO SIGN UP FOR LUNCH TIME RELAY RACE WITH YOUR TWIN.

2.  ALL POWDER PUFF SENIOR WOMEN:  PAY YOUR $7.50 FOR YOUR UNIFORM TO TIFFANY YABUTA RIGHT AWAY.  ALL SHIRTS MUST BE PAID BY MONDAY, 5/17. - S. Naungayan

SUMMER SCHOOL - COMMUNITY SERVICE

Exploring your career options?  Volunteering this summer of want to?  You can earn 1/2 credit in Community Service.  Come to C-101 for further information and sign up by 5/21. - J. Ching

YEARBOOK DISTRIBUTION

Yearbooks will be distributed on Friday, May 21st (schedule to follow).  All students must clear their obligations in order to receive their books.  Congratulations to Waiakea High School's Yearbook staff, whose hard work paid off this past week, when they took 3rd place in the State HSPA competition.  - P. SOPHOMORE CLASS AWARDS CEREMONY SLIDE SHOW

The sophomore class officers are making the end of the year slide show.  If anybody has pictures to contribute please bring them to C204 by Friday, May 21, 2004.  Please write your name on the back of the pictures and they will be returned later. - K. Uyeda

MAY 14 LAST DAY TO BORROW BOOKS

This Friday is the last day to borrow books from the library.  In fact, Friday is the last due date, so anything still  out will be considered overdue.   Sorry, but we are getting ready for the end of the year....yearbook and commencement ticket distribution lists.  Come and buy our discarded books instead! - G. BOOK SALE VALUES

We are in the last few days of the library's book sale.  Come and browse and take a BAG FULL of books at discounted prices.  Pay what you can.  The fewer books we have the box, the happier we will be. - G. Kobayashi

SENIOR CREDITS AND GRADUATION

There are about 14 more class sessions left.  Make sure you attend all classes and keep up with assignments.  You've worked hard to get this far.  Graduating is YOUR responsibility, NOT your parents', teachers' or counselor's.  If you're not sure if you need a class to graduate, see your counselor.  Ignorance is NO excuse. - M. RBI GIRLS SOFTBALL & BOYS BASEBALL

Registration and tryouts for girls and boys will be this Saturday at the Boys and Girls Club.  Registration for girls will be from 11:00am-noon with tryouts from noon-2:00pm.  Registration for boys will be from 3:00-4:00pm with tryouts from 4:00-6:00pm.  See Mr. Yamauchi if you have any questions. - W. ASVAB TEST RESULTS:

Students who took the ASVAB in April, please come to GRAC during morning and lunch recess to pick-up your ASVAB results. - T. Kawada

NATIONAL TEEN PREGNANCY PREVENTION MONTH

The daughters of teen mothers are more likely to become teen mothers themselves.  --- TRUE; the daughters of teen mothers are 22% more likely to become teen mothers themselves.  In addition, the children of teen mothers are at greater risk of abuse and neglect than children born to older parents.  Children of teen mothers tend to have lower birth weights and are more likely to perform poorly in school.  The sons of teen mothers are 13% more likely to end up in prison. - R. SPRING FOOTBALL PRACTICE

Spring football practice for all current 9th-11th graders will start on Monday, May 17th.  Interested students must have a current physical and parental consent form.  Students are to meet at the LR at 3:30pm.   - K. Yamase
