SCHOLARSHIP

HAWAII SOCIETY OF PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS:  for seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.3, planning to enroll full-time in an undergraduate degree program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering & Technology.  Two letters of recommendation, personal statement & transcript required.  Financial need, leadership & participation in extracurricular & community service activities considered.  Applications available in GRAC.  Value:  $1,000.  Deadline:  receipt by 5/14/04 at 4:30 p.m. - T. KIWIN'S

QUESADILLAS

For May Day the Spanish club will be serving traditional Mexican cheese quesadillas with homemade salsa, beans and Mexican rice for $4.00, you can add chicken, chips and/or Mexican koolaid for a $1.00 each.  Get your tickets in advance from a Spanish club member or come by Q-104. - L. Fox

E-SCHOOL REGISTRATION

It's not too early to think about E-School for Summer or Fall.  Summer School runs from June 14 to July 23, with registration opening on May 3.   Courses cost $80 and include Algebra, MHH, Writing Workshop and Business Communication Technology..

Registration for the fall session is already open.  Courses are FREE and includes a "Seminar in Scientific Research: From the Mountain to the Sea," "An Odyssey in Voyaging," "Directed Studies in English Language Arts, Japanese IA, Art Appreciation,  AP Computer Science and Entrepreneurship.  Check out and register at the DOE website, www.eschool.k12.hi.us.   See Mrs. Kobayashi in the library for a brochure and more information.    - G. APRIL 30

April 30 is the next due date for library materials.  As we get ready for graduation and the close of school, it is extremely important for you to return and/or pay for your school obligations.  The last day for circulation of library materials will be Friday, May 14. - G. Kobayashi

SENIOR CLASS T-SHIRTS

Due to popular demand, another order of the senior class t-shirts will be ordered.  Please place orders with payment to Krystel Hayashi, Ryan Shiroma, or Mrs. Yamamoto (J-Metals), by Friday, April 30.  Cost of the shirts is $13.00 S-XL and $14.00 XXL or larger. - J. Yamamoto

STUDENT PARKING REMINDERS

This is a reminder for all students using WHS parking lot.  The following are rules to follow when parking on school property as stated on the parking permit application: 

                1. Parking permit is to be displayed at all times.

                2. Park only in marked stalls on the Upper(Student) parking lot.

                3. Speed limit is 15 mph on the school campus.  NO exhibitions of speed will be tolerated.

                4. The parking lot is OFF-LIMITS to all students during the school day.  Vehicles are not to be used as a school locker.  School lockers are available on campus.

                5. Report all thefts or vandalism immediately to the administration so that we may assist you in making a police report.            

                6. Waiakea High School is not responsible for any damages, vandalism or theft of and from vehicles parked on campus. 

                7. Failure to adhere to any rules and/or regulations pertaining to on-campus parking may result in lost of parking privileges for one year and/or towing of vehicle at the owner's expense.  - S. Ozaki

PIHANA NA MAMO

We are preparing the kalua pork this Friday in Mrs. Woo's room (I-102) @ 3:00 p.m.  Please bring your defrosted pork butts at that time.  Participation is mandatory. - D. Kotaki

MAY DAY PRACTICE

Paperbacks, 6 for $1.00 or 20 cents each; hardcovers 5 for $1.00 or 25 cents each.  Library books are being heavily weeded to get ready for the new carpet.  New books for sale will be added daily.  Come, browse and buy.   Mostly non-fiction for now. - G. Kobayashi

PROJECT GRAD 2004

Registration forms were mailed out recently and senior parents should be receiving, or have already received, them (2 sheets - 1 red & 1 white).  All who register will receive one extra Commencement ticket!  Early registration deadline is May 14, 2004, to have your name put in a drawing for a special grand prize, and to receive an exclusive, student-designed Project Grad 2004 T-shirt.  Final absolute deadline is June 2, 2004.  If you have any questions, see Mrs. Sato in Q-201.   - K. SENIORS

The first senior song practice is for girls only on Wednesday, April 28 at the WHS gym.  Song practice packets were distributed through senior English classes.  If you have not yet received a packet, please see your English teacher.  You need to fill out a ticket with your name and circle the date of practice to enter and receive credit for attending song practice.  If you have lost or forgotten your ticket, you may purchase a replacement ticket for $0.25 from Ms. Kruse at B-203.  Remember to bring the lyrics sheet for the class song (given out with cap & gown orders).  Be prompt.  Doors will be closing at 2 pm.  Late comers will not be allowed to attend practice.  Any questions, see Ms. Kruse.  Mahalo. - J. BOYS BASEBALL/GIRLS SOFTBALL

All boys interested in the RBI Baseball League, sign up with Mr. Yamauchi during morning and lunch recess in F103.  All girls interested in the RBI Softball League, sign up with Mr. Yamauchi during morning and lunch recess in F103.  The RBI season will start in the last week in May and run through the last week in June. - W. There will be a Junior Class Council meeting on Thursday, April 29 in U101 at 12:00.  There will be a short meeting followed by a potluck to celebrate the incoming officers.  Class council members please bring food to share. Thank you!

CO-ED SOCCER LEAGUE FOR ADULTS
