GENERAL

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

HAWAII ISLAND LANDSCAPE ASSOCIATION:  for seniors planning to enroll in any college or university program in horticulture, landscaping or agriculture. Must demonstrate financial need.  Scholastic honors, activities/work history, community activities all considered.  Personal statement & lettter of reference required.  Applications available in GRAC.  Value:  $500.  Deadline:  April 30th.

HAWAII ISLAND UNITED HONGWANJI BUDDHIST WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION:  for seniors who are active members of the Honpa Hongwanji on the island of Hawaii.  Applications available in GRAC.  Value:  2 - $750 scholarships.  Deadline:  April 15th.

HUI OKINAWA SCHOLARSHIP:  for seniors who will be attending an accredited two or four year college in the fall of 2004.  Letter of recommendation & two essays required.  Applications available in GRAC.  Value: 2 - $1,000 scholarships.  Deadline:  April 16th.

BIG ISLAND RETIRED MILITARY ASSOCIATION:  for seniors whose parent(s) are active duty or retired from military service.  Students who have completed two years in JROTC also eligible.  Minimum GPA of 2.8 required.  Student must plan to attend an accredited college in Hawaii on a full-time basis.  Applications available in GRAC.  Value:  $500.  Deadline:  April 30th - T. STUDENT PARKING REMINDER

Students must register their vehicles before parking on campus.  Any unauthorized vehicles will be cited and/or towed away at the owner's expense.  Refer to H.R.S. 302A-1152.  Vehicles can be registered at the Office.  Bring your Driver's Lic., Current Safety Check, No-Fault Insurance Car, Registration Card and $5.00. - S. SR. PROM

Come to pick up picture taking packets and sign up for seating arrangements on February 25th, 26th and 27th during morning recess in H-105.  First come first served.  After the 27th seating will be assigned. - K. Kelly

FRESHMAN/SOPHOMORE BANQUET

Bid sales have been extended until Tuesday, February 24; ABSOLUTE deadline, no exceptions.  Hurry, limited seating available! - P. Yanagisawa

AND THE CONTEST CONTINUES...

The freshman are again in the lead with 367 telephone books turned in.  The sophomores follow with 351, seniors with 123, and the juniors with 114.  The final days are approaching.  Bring in your phone books by Weds. to E-103.   The class that brings in the most phone books will win $100!   - D. WANT TO HEAR SUDDEN RUSH IN CONCERT?

If your answer is YES, drop off your canned goods in E-103 as soon as possible.  The canned goods will be weighed every Friday by Food Bank personnel, and on Monday, the schools with the most poundage will be on the radio.  Come on, Warriors, help stomp out hunger on the Big Island. - D. Tanabe

VARIETY SHOW TICKETS:

are still on sale through the class council reps, talent show participants or in E-103.  The show is set for this Sat., 6:30 pm in our Warrior Gym.  Come and support your fellow Warriors. - D. Tanabe

DIRECTED SCIENCE STUDENTS STATE FAIR PARTICIPANTS:

There will be an important meeting for all Dir. St. Sci. students attending the State Science Fair in April on Tuesday, 2/24, during lunch recess in rm. B-101.   Please make every effort to attend. - J. Nekoba

CRAYOLA EXHIBIT

Mr. Don Barnes has a unique exhibit at the library!  It's an array of Crayola crayons and markers, including Retro-colors, Rainbow twistables and Window Effects.  Who knew that there are so many kinds of Crayolas? - G. Kobayashi

NORTHWEST COLLEGE OF ART

A presentation by a representative from Northwest College of Art in Washington is scheduled for March 2nd during period 6 in Mrs. Palea's room (H-101). Juniors and Seniors in advanced fine art, design, or multimedia are encouraged to drop by room H-101 for more information and sign up by Thursday 02/26/04. The presentation will include information on portfolios, scholarships and careers in art. - S. Palea

SAT PREP WORKSHOP

Ku Ha'aheo will once again be offering a SAT Prep Workshop during Spring Intersession for anyone taking the SAT and/or looking to improve their scores.  Classes will run March 29 - April 2, from 8:00 AM - 12:15 PM.  Cost for this workshop is $17.00.  Please sign up in C101 if you are interested by Friday, March 5, 2004.  Mahalo. - K. HCPS II PREP WORKSHOP

WHS and Ku Ha'aheo will be offering a HCPS II Prep Workshop during Spring Intersession where students will be able to learn valuable strategies for the upcoming test.  HCPS II Reading is available for 9th graders from March 29 - March 31, and HCPS II Math Prep is available for 10th graders from March 31 - April 2.  Please sign in in C101 by March 12 if you are interested.  Mahalo. - K. E-103 UPDATES:

1.  Telephone book drive ends on Weds, Feb. 25.

2.  Canned goods are being collected until March 12.

3.  Variety Show tickets are on sale now in E-103.  Presale $4.00, $5.00 at the door.

4.  Welcome to Toru Shirai from Kurayoshi-Kita High School who will be visiting classes for 3 days.  Please extend a warm Warrior                                      welcome to him.

COMMENCEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING  

The meeting on Tuesday, , Feb. 24 will be for the following sub-committee chairpersons: Accessories, Arrangements, Diplomas, Program/Script, & Decorations in room B-203 during lunch recess.  Other subchairs, please continue working!  A meeting for all committee chairs will be held on March 9.  Mahalo. - J. CLASSROOM WALK THROUGH

Since some teachers are not on lotus this is a reminder that principals will be on campus for principals meeting on Tuesday Feb. 24.  They will conduct walk throughs in classrooms throughout the campus between 8:45 to 9:15 a.m.  Information on walk throughs were placed in your boxes (Check lotus on 2/19). - H.
