SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

UH-MANOA MORTAR BOARD HUI PO'OKELA CHAPTER:  for students intending to enroll at UH Manoa in fall 2004.  Applications can be downloaded from www2.hawaii.edu/~mortarb  Value:  $500.  Deadline:  March 15th.

CATRALA-HAWAII:  for seniors with a minimum 2.5 GPA.  Financial need, federal income tax return, Hawaii residency, essay & two letters of recommendation required.  Applications available in GRAC.  Value:  Two - $2,000 scholarships.  Deadline:  April 12th.

HAWAII SHEET METAL INDUSTRY SCHOLARSHIP:  for seniors interested in enrolling in the Honolulu Community College Sheet Metal Program for fall 2004.  Applications available in GRAC.  Value:  Twelve - tuition, fees & books at Honolulu Community College Sheet Metal Program.  Deadline:  June 30th. - T. SHEILA ANNE MURPHY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP GRANT:  for 2004 graduate of an East Hawaii high school; minimum GPA of 2.5 & planning to attend college, vocational school or trade school.  Applications available in GRAC or at www.HawaiiLawyerOnline.com.  Value:  $1,000.  Deadline:  April 19th.

HAWAII EDUCATION ASSOCIATION (HEA):  for seniors who are dependents of HEA members. Personal statement, HEA Financial Aid Form & Teacher Recommendations required.  Applications available in GRAC.  Value:  5 - $1,000.  Deadline:  April 2nd.

LIKO A'E NATIVE HAWAIIAN SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM:  for Hawaiian seniors accepted to any degree-awarding program or enrolled in a two or four year college or university.  FAFSA & Essays required.  Apply at www.Likoae.org.  Come to GRAC for more information.

FILIPINO CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OF HAWAII SCHOLARSHIP:  for seniors who are residents of Hawaii with a minimum GPA of 3.5.  Selection based on academic record, extra curricular activities, essay & involvement in activities/programs to perpetuate the Filipino culture.  Applications available in GRAC.  Value:  $1,000 - $1,500.  Deadline:  Receipt by February 27th.

FILIPINO WOMEN'S LEAGUE:  for seniors who are of Filipino ancestry, residents of Hawaii & will be attending college in Hawaii on a full-time basis.  Minimum GPA of 3.5, personal letter, & two letters of recommendation required.  Applications available in GRAC.  Deadline:  April 30th.

HUI MAKAALA:  for seniors who demonstrate scholastic excellence, community involvement and financial need.  Personal essay stating why the applicant is applying for the scholarship & a discussion into what experiences with the Okinawan culture & two letters of recommendation required.  Applications available in GRAC or at www.huoa.org.  Deadline:  April 5th.  - T. HAWAII DISTRICT SCIENCE FAIR

Science projects of Waiakea High students in the Directed Studies-Science class are on display till Wednesday, noon, at the UHH Campus Center.  Students participating are Malie Larish, Erika Masaki, Whitney Nekoba, Ryoko Ogasawara, Alain Takane, Michelle Tsang Mui Chung, Kiera Yabusaki, and Kolea Zimmerman.  Congratulations to Alain Takane for being awarded Second Place and Michelle Tsang Mui Chung for Honorable Mention overall in the senior division.  - J. FEBRUARY 2004 CANISTER DRIVE:

The BIIF has been designated as 7-Eleven's Canister Designee for the entire month of February at all 7-Eleven Stores on the island of Hawaii.  All proceeds will benefit the schools and student athletes of the BIIF.   - K. Yamase

RUNNING START PROGRAM (JUNIORS)

Hawaii Community College will send the application forms as soon as the Fall, 2004 schedule of classes is ready.  The application deadline for Running Start is August 1.  Listen to the morning announcement for more information. - M. Akiona

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

WAIAKEA LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP:  for graduating senior from Waiakea High or St. Joe planning to attend Hawaii Community College in a vocational or technical degree program.  Academic potential, community service & financial need must be demonstrated. Applications available in GRAC.  Deadline:  receipt by February 27th.

HELEN GASCON SCHOLARSHIP:  for any senior accepted in an undergraduate program of study in Family & Consumer Science.  Letter of application, three letters of reference & letter of acceptance required.  Come to GRAC for more information.  Value:  minimum of $1,000.  Deadline:  April 2nd.

PROMISING HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE TUITION WAIVER:  for seniors planning to enroll at least half-time at Honolulu Community College.  Personal statement explaining why senior should be selected to receive tuition waiver & personal data sheet or resume due to Mrs. Kawada by:  April 7th.

NGO WONG LOO & MAN KWONG LOO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:  for seniors planning to enroll at Hawaii Community College.  Minimum GPA of 2.5, personal statement & demonstration of financial need required.  Come to GRAC for more information. Deadline:  April 16th.
