GENERAL

SR. PROM

*  This year's Senior Prom will be held on Sunday, March 21st.  Permission forms are available at H-105 & E-103 during recesses.  Bid sales begin Jan. 26th and end Feb. 6th at H-105.  Bid sales the week of Jan. 26 -Jan 30 will take place during lunch recess ONLY, the week of Feb. 2 - Feb 6 during morning and lunch recesses.  Be sure to clear all obligations.  See Ms. K. Kelly in H-105 for any questions

*  CORRECTION TO SR. PROM PERMISSION FORM: Doors open at 5:30pm and close at 6:00pm, not open 6:00pm and close at 6:30pm. - K. Kelly

JUNIORS

First come, first served for picture taking times and seating for Junior Ball outside E103 during morning and lunch recess. - B. Okinaga

SCHOLARSHIPS

HAWAII ASSOCIATION OF PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS: for high school seniors intending to enroll in a 4 yr. college. Academic performance, financial need, extracurricular activities, personal statement & letters of recommendation will be considered.  Applications available in GRAC.  Value:  $1,000.  Deadline:  March 31st.

OUTRIGGER DUKE KAHANAMOKU FOUNDATION:  for senior athletes.  Letters of reference, athletic resume and federal tax return required.  Applications available in GRAC.  Deadline:  March 15th.

HAWAII COMMUNITY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION:  for seniors planning to attend either a vocational/technical program or a 4 yr. college.  Applications available in GRAC.  Value:  4 - $2,500.  Deadline:  April 16th.

CHARLES R. KENDALL SCHOLARSHIP:  for seniors who are dependents of HGEA members.  Applicant must plan to attend a 4 yr. university or college or a 2 yr. community college or vocational/trade school.  Selection criteria include:  financial need, academic ability, personal letter and 3 letters of recommendation.  Applications available in GRAC.  Deadline:  February 13th.

SOPHOMORE CLASS RING ORDERING

Class ring orders will be taken on Thursday, February 5 in the Library during MORNING and LUNCH RECESSES, not after school.  The stone needs to be blue or white.  Styles and metals are unlimited.  There is even a gold ring.  Please have your $50.00  with your order.  You may bring cash or a check made out to Balfour Company.  Show your class spirit.  Buy a Class Ring.   - G. FRESHMAN/SOPHOMORE BANQUET

"Escape to Paradise" on Saturday, March 6, 2004, from 5:45 p.m.-10 p.m. at the Sodexho Marriott (UHH) with the Freshman and Sophomores!  $18 bids (dues payers) are now on sale at lunch recess in E103.  Seating is limited, so don't wait! - P. Yanagisawa

SUSHI SALE

As of today, there is over $1100 outstanding for cafeteria accounts. Oustanding accounts are considered an obligation.Payments may be placed in the drop box in the cafeteria. - M. Yamashita

Keep your attendance record current!  Make it a practice to turn in requests for Column B absences promptly after your absence. - M. Yamashita

HONOLULU COMMUNITY COLLEGE

A representative from Honolulu Community College will be in GRAC on Tuesday, February 10th at 8:30 a.m.  Juniors and Seniors who are interested in attending should come to GRAC for a pass. - T. Kawada

Dr. Caron of the University of Hawaii at Manoa Honors Program will be in GRAC on Wednesday, February 11th at 10:30 a.m.  Juniors & Seniors who are interested should come to GRAC for a pass. - T. Kawada

FINANCIAL AID WORKSHOP

Heald College will be presenting a Financial Aid Workshop for students & their parents on Tuesday, February 10th from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at the Waiakea High School Cafeteria.  Learn more about how to make college affordable and how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). - T. SENIORS LAST CALL

"We can lead the horse to the water, but we cannot make it drink."  Mrs. Kawada spoke to all senior English classes in August, Mrs. Akiona and Mrs. Yanagisawa have spoken to most of you individually but still have not heard from a lot of seniors about plans after graduation.  Time is running out.  Only 15 more weeks until graduation!  See the counselors about your future plans now! - M. TRACK & FIELD TRYOUTS

Boys and girls interested in trying out for the track team must see Coach Joseph in E-204 ASAP.  Practice is daily, from 2:45 TO 5 P.M.  No new sign-ups will be allowed after the tryout dates. - W. Joseph

GIRL'S WATER POLO SIGN-UPS

All girls interested in playing water polo this season are to sign-up on Friday, Feb. 6th at 12 noon in front of the gym.  Please be prompt. - K. Yamase
