SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

HARRIET BOUSLOG LABOR SCHOLARSHIP (ILWU): for seniors who will be attending UH-Manoa or UH-Hilo who are children or grandchildren of ILWU members or retirees.  Essays required.  Applications available in GRAC.  Value:  $1,000 per semester, renewable for up to 8 semesters.  Deadline:  April 1st.

RONALD REAGAN SCHOLARSHIP FUND: for seniors enrolled in one of the ten public high schools in Hawaii County.  1000 word essay required.  Application & more information available in GRAC.  Value:  3 - $500 scholarships.  Deadline:  April 15th. - T. Kawada

MORE SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

ASSOCIATED CHINESE UNIVERSITY WOMEN: for seniors of Chinese or part-Chinese ancestry with a minimum GPA of 3.5. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents & demonstrate high scholastic achievement, character, school and/or community service and financial need.  Application packets available in GRAC.  Value: $1,500 granted in two installments to five students.  Deadline:  February 28th.

EDWIN M. KUNIYUKI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: offered by Hawaii Schools Federal Credit Union. Applicants must be a member of Hawaii Schools Federal Credit Union, have graduated in 2004, be entering his/her freshman year in an accredited college or university, have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have a scholastic record of intellectual promise.  Essay & two recommendation forms required.  Applications available in GRAC.  Value: $1,000.  Deadline:  March 5th.   - T. SR. PROM

*  This year's Senior Prom will be held on Sunday, March 21st.  Permission forms are available at H-105 & E-103 during recesses.  Bid sales begin Jan. 26th and end Feb. 6th at H-105.  Bid sales the week of Jan. 26 -Jan 30 will take place during lunch recess ONLY, the week of Feb. 2 - Feb 6 during morning and lunch recesses.  Be sure to clear all obligations.  See Ms. K. Kelly in H-105 for any questions

NEW SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

ROBERT C. BYRD HONORS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: for high school seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.3 & combined SAT score of 1270 &/or ACT score of 29.  School activities, leadership positions, community involvement, work experience, recognitions & awards also considered.  Personal essay required.  Value: $1,500  Applications available in GRAC. Deadline: March 19th.

HAWAII SOCIETY OF PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS:  for seniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher who have demonstrated leadership and participation in extracurricular & community service activities.  Two recommendation letters needed.   Applications available in GRAC.  Value:  Minimum $500.  Deadline:  March 15, 2004.

BIG ISLAND FEDERAL CREDIT UNION:  students must demonstrate academic excellence, scholarly activities, service & extra-curricular activities.  Statement of career & academic goals & two letters of recommendations required.  Applications available in GRAC.  Value:  2 - $500 awards for 2-yr. post secondary & 4 - $1,000 awards for 4-yr. post-secondary.  Deadline:  March 19th.

HAWAII EMERGENCY PHYSICIANS ASSOCIATED (HEPA):  for graduating seniors with compelling financial need from East Hawaii. Two letters of recommendation and FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) required. Applications available in GRAC.  Value: 4 - $1,000 scholarships.  Deadline:  Receipt by:  March 31st.   - T. Kawada

JUNIORS AND SENIOR - CLASS RINGS

HAWAII ROTARY YOUTH FOUNDATION:  for seniors applying as a full-time student to an accredited 4-yr. college; must be a US citizen & resident of Hawaii.  Scholastic achievement, involvement in community & campus activities & financial need considered.  Value:  $1,000 - $3,500.  Applications available in GRAC.  Deadline:  February 11th.

HILO WOMAN'S CLUB:  for female seniors with financial need, minimum GPA of 2.5, enrolling at UH-Hilo or Hawaii Community College.  Two letters of recommendation, two academic recommendations, FAFSA & personal statement required.  Applications available in GRAC.  Value:  2 - $1,000. Deadline:  receipt by April 15th.

NISSAN HAWAII HIGH SCHOOL HALL OF HONOR:  for athletes who are participating in any sports approved by the Hawaii High School Athletic Association.  Other considerations include: character, behavior, sportsmanship, involvement in community.  Applications available in GRAC.  Value:  12 - $2,000 scholarships.  Deadline:  receipt by April 28th. - T.
