SENIOR CAP AND GOWN ORDERS

As of February 1st a late fee of $10 will be added to all cap & gown orders making the total fee $43. If you have not yet ordered your cap and gown, but plan to participate in the graduation ceremony, please do so before Feb. 1st. Order forms are available from Ms. Kruse in B-203. Mahalo. - J. Kruse

APPLICATIONS FOR GIFTED AND TALENTED ENGLISH CLASSES

If you are interested in enrolling in a G/T English class next year, you must apply. See Mrs. Naungayan in D204 for an application and to sign up for the test. - S. Naungayan

ENGLISH GIFTED AND TALENTED SCREENING:

If you are currently enrolled in a GT English class, you need not reapply for the next year's GT class; however, you must have your G/T teacher sign your Registration Form. MANDATORY TESTING FOR ALL NEW G/T ENGLISH CANDIDATES WILL BE CONDUCTED ON JANUARY 27TH AT 3 P.M. IN D204. See Mrs. Naungayan for a packet and to sign up for the test, if you wish to apply. - S. Want a "SCIENCE IN ACTION" class next year? Sign up for either Bio-Agriscience or Aquascience - 1 credit/year class.

MAKE A SPLASH - Dive into Aquascience (Aquaculture) next year. Sign up for it during registration to learn about fish/animals and plants that are grown/live in water and earn one SCIENCE credit. You will thank yourself. - G. Victorine

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

HARRIET BOUSLOG LABOR SCHOLARSHIP (ILWU): for seniors who will be attending UH-Manoa or UH-Hilo who are children or grandchildren of ILWU members or retirees. Essays required. Applications available in GRAC. Value: $1,000 per semester, renewable for up to 8 semesters. Deadline: April 1st.

RONALD REAGAN SCHOLARSHIP FUND: for seniors enrolled in one of the ten public high schools in Hawaii County. 1000 word essay required. Application & more information available in GRAC. Value: 3 - $500 scholarships. Deadline: April 15th. - T. Kawada

MORE SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

ASSOCIATED CHINESE UNIVERSITY WOMEN: for seniors of Chinese or part-Chinese ancestry with a minimum GPA of 3.5. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents & demonstrate high scholastic achievement, character, school and/or community service and financial need. Application packets available in GRAC. Value: $1,500 granted in two installments to five students. Deadline: February 28th.

EDWIN M. KUNIYUKI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: offered by Hawaii Schools Federal Credit Union. Applicants must be a member of Hawaii Schools Federal Credit Union, have graduated in 2004, be entering his/her freshman year in an accredited college or university, have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have a scholastic record of intellectual promise. Essay & two recommendation forms required. Applications available in GRAC. Value: $1,000. Deadline: March 5th. - T. Kawada

YOUTH CONSERVATION CORP: summer employment opportunity for students in gr. 10-12. A representative will be in GRAC on Monday, January 26th at 10:30 a.m. Interested students should come to GRAC for a pass. - T. Kawada

CANCER AWARENESS WEEK:

Today is Quarters for a Cure Day. Come to the quad during morning and lunch recesses and lay your quarters down on the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life sign. Twenty-five cent pledges are also being sold in honor of those individuals whose lives have been touched by cancer. Be generous so we can find a cure for cancer! - D. Tanabe

* This year's Senior Prom will be held on Sunday, March 21st. Permission forms are available at H-105 & E-103 during recesses. Bid sales begin Jan. 26th and end Feb. 6th at H-105. Bid sales the week of Jan. 26 -Jan 30 will take place during lunch recess ONLY, the week of Feb. 2 - Feb 6 during morning and lunch recesses. Be sure to clear all obligations. See Ms. K. Kelly in H-105 for any questions
